Hippo character design

This was a test for a children's educational gaming company, Smarty Pants. The design was partially inspired by the book Cartoon Modern by Amid Amidi which I just finished reading.


A little behind the scenes. Still living out of my boxes of which the scanner is in one until I found my own place, so this was taken with a digital camera:

I thought of this when I saw a guy on the bus who looked like he went to every Bonaroo, owns every Matador and Sub Pop record, and Hi Fidelity is his favorite movie. If I had the time & money, I might not be that different.

Yes I know, iPod spoofs are way outdated...too bad, here's another :P

No One Knows What It's Like...

I woke up a few days ago with that first panel in mind of Skeletor. I have no idea why or how but it seemed like a funny idea:

The New TeddyHose.com!

After several months of sketching ideas at a coffee shop, looking through books for pattern ideas, deciding which homepage idea to go with then combining them all, and working on a 5 year old computer in San Francisco trying to avoid facebook unsuccessfully, I can now enter what's left of the working world with the new & improved www.TeddyHose.com

Now I can complete my transformation to working San Francisco resident stuffed with organic hummus, chai lattes and Full House theme song playing in the background (shooby do bap bada) :P

My Inner Rodin

I'm not one for drawing realistic things, but I drew some faces & bodies at a bar and my friend Bow Jones said they were beautiful. I then got fed up with designing my website again last night and just went off on a freestyle sketch frenzy in Flash. I'm a big fan of Rodin...and women, so I couldn't help myself w/ the erotica.

6 hour life drawing classes at the School of Visual Arts will definitely have an effect on ya, these were all done freehand.

Remember that hot opening scene in Darjeeling Limited where Natalie Portman raises her leg to Jason Schwartzman to take off her boots so they can get down? I tried to illustrate that w/ a few changes in detail.
